Mostafa El Hamamsy is the CEO of El Hamamsy Marine Services Ltd. Over 16 years of diversified experience and a solid track record in all facets of the shipping industry, Mostafa has established himself as one of the shipping experts in Egypt, serving a broad range of clients worldwide. His experience resonates with all areas within the shipping industry covering marine insurance, P&I consultancy, cargo surveys, claims handling, flag state inspections, agency, Suez Canal transit and tramp affairs, legal advisory and more.

Before assuming his current role as the CEO, El Hamamsy joined the company in 2001, where he held a variety of positions with El Hamamsy Marine Services Ltd.. In 2004, he had been selected to be the successor of his father, late Capt. El Hamamsy, to become the managing director and head of P&I and H&M survey department. Throughout this period, Mostafa has capitalized on his professional experience in handling various challenging and complex claims to meet the ever-growing demands of shipowners, charterers, P&I clubs, H&M underwriters.

Mostafa has always been keen to keep abreast of shipping industry trends and challenges. He has always been interested in marine insurance and claims handling, and has, therefore, attended many courses that are relevant to his area of interest. In 2003, El Hamamsy attended SKULD School for P&I Insurance, while he also holds a BIMCO certification for attending the ‘Shipping Law from Alpha to Omega’ in 2005. He has attended ‘Introduction to Marine Insurance Course’ in 2012, organized by Gard Academy and the Richard Hogg, ‘Maritime Law and Marine Insurance Claims Course’ in 2017 among others. Out of his major achievements, Mostafa has successfully handled more than 20 major groundings, collisions and pollution casualties throughout the past years. After all, his unique blend of management, leadership, communication and technical talent is what builds his reputation in the shipping industry.

Mostafa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Production Engineering from Alexandria University since 2001.
